Park Police Achieve Accreditation from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP)

The Naperville Park District Park Police have been unanimously recognized for accreditation at the Tier I level by the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Council and are the first park police to be accredited through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP).
The accreditation process began approximately 18 months ago and culminated in a site visit in August by an assessor who conducted inspections, reviewed files, met with Park District leaders, accompanied Park Police on their regular patrols and developed an on-site report. The report was sent to the ILEAP Council, which discussed the findings and voted to determine that the Naperville Park District Park Police met the professional standards for accreditation.
"During my career with the City of Naperville Police Department I worked closely with the Naperville Fire Department and I was able to see firsthand the emphasis that both organizations put on training and accreditation," said Park Police Chief Steve Schindlbeck. "As Park Police Chief, I've been given the opportunity to make both a priority within the Park Police with overwhelming support from the Park Board, leadership team and members of the Park Police."
"We are proud of our Park Police for this achievement," said Executive Director Brad Wilson. "The accreditation is a reflection of the professionalism of the department, our officers, and the District's commitment to public safety and community service."
