Park Board Names Fitness Center at Fort Hill Activity Center the “Ray McGury Fitness Center”

At its May 12, 2022 meeting, the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners approved a resolution naming the 8,600 square foot fitness center at Fort Hill Activity Center the “Ray McGury Fitness Center.” The naming followed a 60-day consideration period that began March 10.

Ray served as executive director for the Naperville Park District from 2008 to 2022 and was influential in pursuing health and wellness for the Naperville community. During Ray’s tenure as executive director, Naperville Park District made significant strides toward its mission of promoting healthy minds, healthy lives and a healthy community. Under his leadership and together with board and staff, the District completed many key projects, including Fort Hill Activity Center, expansion of Nike Sports Complex, remediation of Sportsman’s Park, development of Knoch Knolls Nature Center, renovation of Centennial Beach, and the development of the 95th Street Community Plaza and Wolf’s Crossing Community Park.
