Approximately 100 Special Olympics Illinois athletes from Region B and Region C will compete in a series of golf skills events at Springbrook Golf Course, located at 2220 W. 83rd Street, on Wednesday, July 29 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. All athletes who receive gold will be eligible for advancement to the State Golf Tournament in September.

“Our team is excited for this week’s Golf Skills event and grateful to partner with the team at Springbrook to provide a meaningful experience for our athletes,” said Assistant Director of Region C at the Special Olympics, Kerry Glimco. “We’re also thankful for our volunteers, especially those who return year after year, to help bring our mission to life and create positive, lasting memories for everyone involved.”

“The Naperville Park District is very happy to once again work with Special Olympics Illinois for this event,” said Director of Golf Kevin Carlson. “We look forward to seeing the talented competitors display their golf skills.”

The competition will have athletes demonstrate essential golf skills such as short and long putts, iron and wood shots, bunker shots, and chipping and pitching. The driving range and practice greens will be closed during the event; the course will remain open for regular play.

The range and Marie Todd Practice Facility at Naperbrook Golf Course, located at 22204 W. Hassert Boulevard in Plainfield, will remain open for golfers’ use.
