Sportsmanship Highlighted in Naperville Park District Fall Athletic Programs

With Naperville Youth Soccer in full swing and registration for Fall Naperville Youth Basketball underway, the Naperville Park District continues to emphasize the importance of good sportsmanship in its athletic programs.

"Park District recreational athletic programs are meant to give players at any level the opportunity to have fun, learn and grow at their own pace," said Andrea Coates, director of recreation and facilities. "Demonstrating and encouraging good sportsmanship is vital to the continued success of our programs. It takes all of us working together to create positive and lasting change."

In February 2020, the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners passed a resolution that highlights the importance of good sportsmanship District-wide. Prescribed actions include the observance of National Sportsmanship Day on the first Tuesday of March. A sportsmanship-themed page on the District's website at www.napervilleparks.org/sportsmanship provides more information regarding this important initiative, not only for the Park District, but also community-wide and beyond.
