Renovated Parking Lot at Ron Ory Community Garden Plots Now Open to Public

Monday, April 27, 2026

The parking lot at the Ron Ory Community Garden Plots, located at 811 South West Street, is now open to the public. The new parking lot, which features permeable pavers, was constructed beginning last fall and replaces the former gravel lot. Permeable paver parking lots improve drainage, water quality, and provide better accessibility for patrons visiting the Community Garden Plots and nearby Knoch Park and Sportsman’s Park. This project was funded, in part, by a GIGO (Green Infrastructure Grant Opportunities) grant from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and DuPage County’s Water Quality Improvement Program.

This renovation is part of a multi-year plan to improve the Community Garden Plots. In addition to the parking lot renovations, additional raised planting beds were installed to better accommodate gardeners with varying needs.
