Proposed 141st Park to be Named “Plank Road Park”

At the February 26, 2026 meeting, the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners approved the naming of a future neighborhood park, “Plank Road Park.” This will be the Park District’s 141st park. The Park Board approved the naming by resolution following a 60-day consideration period required by Park District policy, which began on December 11, 2025. The land will be donated to the Naperville Park District as part of The Claire development, a new residential community to be located west of Naper Boulevard and north of Plank Road. The park’s name highlights the historical significance of the wooden plank road that ran along Ogden Avenue through Naperville, and the future park will incorporate this theme into the design of park structures and furnishings. The park is expected to open in late 2027.
