ParkTalk Podcast: Expanding Our Volunteer Outreach
Tuesday, April 8, 2025
Episode Description:
As the nation prepares for National Volunteer Week beginning April 20, Volunteer & Events Manager Becca Krzyszkowski, and Park Specialist Trevor Stibbe, discuss volunteer’s impact to the Naperville Park District.
Quotes from the Episode:
Where are volunteers utilized at the Park District?
We have over 2,400 volunteers annually and most of them are coaches. Outside of coaches, some unique volunteer opportunities we have are in our pottery program, we have volunteers at all of our special events, and then again out in our parks. – Becca Krzyszkowski
How will Nature Campions impact Park operations?
I think the most important thing, from our perspective, is the structure that we’re going to see from having a designated day each month, and that’s something I think volunteers will appreciate too. – Trevor Stibbe
Why do you think volunteers are so eager to work with us?
Most of our volunteers have a connection to the Park District, and if it’s not the Park District it’s their neighborhood park we maintain and operate. If they don’t, they just have that passion for volunteering and they have the time and commitment – whether they’re retired or they’re high school students looking to build their resume for college. – Becca Krzyszkowski
