Park Board Initiates Naming One of the Future Parks at the Polo Club Development “Fairlane Farms Parkâ€
Friday, May 12, 2023
At the May 11, 2023 meeting, the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to begin a 60-day period of consideration prior to naming one of the two proposed parks in the new Polo Club Development "Fairlane Farms Park."
Two parks are proposed to be donated to the Naperville Park District by the developer, Pulte Homes, per the land-cash ordinance as part of the Polo Club Subdivision development located on the north side of 119th Street, east of Route 59. One park will be a neighborhood park, centrally located, and is planned to be named, "Polo Club Park." The second park will be located on the east side of the Polo Club Subdivision and will include multipurpose turf fields and parking lots. The proposed name for this park is "Fairlane Farms Park," to commemorate Fairlane Farms, which was located on land that is now part of the new subdivision.
Naperville resident Richard W. Kuhn and his family taught polo at Fairlane Farms, which was originally purchased by his grandparents in the 1930s. Many players at the Naperville Polo Club learned to ride and play polo at Fairlane Farms. The naming of the future park highlights the historical connection between Fairlane Farms and the Naperville community.
In accordance with Park District Policies, the Park Board must provide for a sixty (60) day period of consideration to receive additional information from the community prior to taking formal action to agree to name the east side park to be donated as part of the Polo Club Subdivision: "Fairlane Farms Park."
