New Interpretive Sign at Veterans Park Highlights Park’s History
Wednesday, November 1, 2023
Naperville Park District recently installed a new interpretive sign at Veterans Park, 303 E. Gartner Road. The cost of the sign was donated by the Kiwanis Club of Naperville, which also has adopted the park, committing to regular volunteer days to beautify and maintain the park. The sign provides a brief history of the park, information on the monuments that are located there and highlights the District's Adopt-A-Park program.
"We are grateful for the generous donation by the Kiwanis Club of Naperville, which covered the cost of fabricating this sign," said Executive Director Brad Wilson. "We also appreciate their continued support of the Park District and Veterans Park through the Adopt-a-Park program."
Veterans Park is owned by the City of Naperville and maintained by the Naperville Park District, through a 99-year lease with the City. The park typically hosts the community's annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, however, this year, the Veterans Day ceremony will be held at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, at the planned Vietnam Wall of Remembrance. The program is set for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11. More information about the Vietnam Wall of Remembrance can be found at www.napervilleparks.org/VietnamWallofRemembrance.
