Naperville Park District to Host Self-Defense Workshops

Thursday, May 8, 2025

Naperville Park District is hosting “Real-World Self-Defense” – a personal safety workshop designed to give attendees the knowledge and skills to protect themselves in uncertain and unsafe situations – presented by RJM Strategy Group. The workshop will take place at Fort Hill Activity Center, located at 20 Fort Hill Drive, on Thursday, June 5; two sessions are being offered – one at 2:00 p.m. and another at 6:00 p.m. The program is for both teens and adults with little to no self-defense knowledge or experience.

RJM Strategy Group president and former Park District Executive Director Ray McGury will lead both sessions. Each session will begin with instructing participants on safety and situational awareness. Then, attendees will have the opportunity to learn and practice basic self-defense skills that they can use right away. Ray is a former law enforcement professional and a certified Krav Maga instructor – a self-defense system that focuses on protecting yourself in real-world situations.

Registration and a fee payment - $25 for residents, $37.50 for nonresidents - are required to attend the workshop. For more information about the event and to register, view the 2025 Summer Program Guide at napervilleparks.org/programguides.
