Naperville Park District to Host Public Open House for Nike Sports Complex Site Master Plan

Monday, May 13, 2024

Wednesday, May 22 from 4:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Residents are invited to a public open house on Wednesday, May 22 under the Book Family Pavilion at Nike Sports Complex, located at 1520 N. Mill St., to review and discuss possible improvements at Nike Sports Complex. Naperville Park District staff will present proposed improvement areas, examples of recreational spaces, and a projected timeline identifying next steps. Residents will have the opportunity to provide input and ask questions.

The May 22 meeting is the first step for gathering resident input and developing a site master plan with proposed improvements for Nike Sports Complex. This master plan will help the Park District prepare an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant submission for consideration. A future open house providing follow up to the May 22 meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 18. Once the open house meetings have been conducted and community input has been gathered, the Naperville Park District plans to formulate a site master plan and submit an OSLAD grant proposal this summer/fall.

Nike Sports Complex last underwent significant renovations in 2011. Naperville Park District identified areas of improvement and opportunities to add, expand and update recreational amenities. Possible amenity improvements include an expanded asphalt loop trail, shade pavilion overlooking cricket area and the addition of a Challenge Course similar to the course at Wolf's Crossing Community Park.
