Naperville Park District to Celebrate Earth Day with “Earth Month Naperville”

Naperville Park District, the City of Naperville and many other local organizations are hosting community events, plant sales, volunteer opportunities and activities to collectively celebrate Earth Month Naperville, in recognition of the 56th annual Earth Day. Earth Month Naperville will take place from Monday, April 6 to Thursday, April 30.
Knoch Knolls Nature Center will feature hands on exhibits, displays and activities all month long and centers on the theme, “Wildlife Conservation Success Stories.” The Park District invites the community to learn about the conservational plight of various local species.
As part of Earth Month Naperville, the Naperville Park District and Naperville Police Department are cosponsoring the annual Shredding Event on Saturday, April 11. This is a free event held in the Centennial Beach parking lot, located at 500 Jackson Avenue, where community members may bring sensitive documents and other files to be shredded and recycled. Participants may bring a maximum of two large cardboard banker boxes or paper bags not exceeding 10 lbs. per container. Volunteers will unload boxes and bags from your vehicle. This event will be held from 8:00-11:00 a.m. or until the trucks are filled.
The Conservation Foundation will host the 35th annual DuPage River Sweep on Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Deadline to register is Sunday, April 5.
One Earth Film Festival is hosting a festival from Wednesday, April 22-Monday, April 27. The festival centers on the theme, All Together Now, and shows films that spark conversation, connection and collective action for our planet.
Tree and plant sales will also take place throughout April and May. The City of Naperville’s annual Arbor Day Tree Sale is ongoing until Wednesday, April 22 at 5:00 p.m. Tree pickup will be on Saturday, April 25 at the Public Works Service Center, 180 Fort Hill Drive. The Morton Arboretum will host its own Arbor Day Plant Sale from Thursday, April 23-Saturday, April 25. The annual McDonald Farm Plant Sale, hosted by the Conservation Foundation, is Saturday, May 9 at McDonald Farm, located at 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road.
