Naperville Park District and Naperville Little League to Officially Open New Synthetic Turf Ballfield at DuPage River Sports Complex

Thursday, May 9, 2024

Naperville Park District invites the community to the official opening of the District's new synthetic turf ballfield at DuPage River Sports Complex, located at 2807 Washington Street. This project was made possible by a collaboration between the Naperville Park District and Naperville Little League Baseball.

"The Naperville Park District is fortunate to have great community partners like Naperville Little League," explained Brad Wilson, Executive Director of the Naperville Park District. "It's relationships like these that help us provide wonderful recreational opportunities for our community. We thank Naperville Little League for their contributions toward this beautiful field that provides an exceptional place for recreation, learning and fun."

The opening event will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 11 at 9:00 a.m. to celebrate the partnership between the two organizations and officially open the new ballfield. Park Board President Mary Gibson and representatives from Naperville Little League and the Chicago White Sox - a partner of Naperville Little League - will make remarks followed by ceremonial first pitches.

To add to the festivities, Chicago White Sox mascot Southpaw will make an appearance, pose for photos and hand out goodies while supplies last.

"The robust support of our sponsor community, most importantly the Chicago White Sox, has created an opportunity for Naperville Little League - in cooperation with the Naperville Park District - to embark on a multi-year partnership to transition several baseball fields to synthetic turf infields," explained Jim Meurer, NLLB VP/Director of Umpires. "Once completed, these fields will be enjoyed by the Naperville community for many years to come."
