Naperville Park District Website Offers Accessible Resources for All Users

Naperville Park District strives to make its services and programs accessible to everyone, and that extends to the District’s website, www.napervilleparks.org. The website features resources that allow users to customize the site’s content in a way that addresses individuals’ unique needs.

In late 2022, the Park District launched a redesigned website, which included an Accessibility Statement affirming the District’s commitment to inclusion and highlighting various accessibility features on the website. One of the features is an AI-powered accessibility tool that adjusts the appearance of images, text or code based on individual needs. Some of the options include adjustments that are seizure-safe and ADHD-friendly, and helpful features for individuals with visual impairments, cognitive disabilities or adjustments for those who require assistance with keyboard navigation. To use this tool, click the blue ADA symbol located at the bottom right-hand corner of the webpage and select from the accessibility adjustments menu.

The Park District website also addresses language barriers as most of the District’s website can be translated into approximately 60 different languages using Google Translate. At the top of each page, users can click on the “Choose Language” drop down menu and view web content in their preferred language. Additionally, by using the Google Translate app on individual smartphones, users can translate text on the Park District’s printed items, such as seasonal event cards and signs in parks and facilities.
