Naperville Park District Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Knoch Knolls Nature Center

The Naperville Park District invites the community to celebrate 10 years of environmental education at the Knoch Knolls Nature Center 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 28 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

In addition to the festivities for all ages planned at the Nature Center, located at 320 Knoch Knolls Road, a ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication of the Frank J. Rus Pavilion, located in the upper grove of Knoch Knolls Park, will precede the event at 9:30 a.m.

The anniversary event will feature a variety of nature-based activities for all ages. Attendees can interact with animals and learn about the local environment through raptor and reptile meet and greets, seed bomb making, exploring the new Mobile Tour, a Storywalk Book Walk in Lower Grove and more. Free themed giveaways will be available while supplies last. Kona Ice will also be at the event selling shaved ice.

The following are additional activities set that will be hosted at various times throughout the event:

  • Dedication of the Frank J. Rus Pavilion at 9:30 a.m.
  • Outdoor yoga from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (bring a yoga mat)
  • A Taste of Forest Therapy Walk at 11:00 a.m.
  • Prairie Walks at 10:30 a.m. & 11:45 a.m.
  • Fish Feeding at 11:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.

Since 2014, the Knoch Knolls Nature Center has become a destination facility in Naperville. The Nature Center educates visitors on environmental issues, sustainable practices, and the history of Knoch Knolls Park. The Nature Center hosts year-round programming including interactive nature experiences and preschool programs.
