Naperville Park District invites the community to celebrate the official grand opening of the new Rothermel Family Skate Facility (formerly known as Centennial Park Skate Facility) on Tuesday, July 16 at 5:00 pm. The skate facility is located at 500 W. Jackson Avenue, just west of Centennial Beach. Funding for the project was made possible, in part, by a $120,000 grant from the Rothermel Family Fund of DuPage Foundation.

The grand opening event will begin with comments from Park District officials, the Rothermel Family, and DuPage Foundation, followed by a ribbon-cutting, photo opportunities, and refreshments. Additionally, giveaways and skate demos will be provided by Character Skateboards, a well-known Chicago-based brand.

“We are pleased to recognize and thank the Rothermel family for their support and generosity in making the beautiful new skate facility a reality,” said Executive Director Brad Wilson. “Naperville has a very vibrant skating community comprised of individuals of all ages and levels and I know that this facility will be enjoyed for many years to come.”

The Centennial Park Skate Facility was first added to the Riverwalk area in 2004. The new facility, which was completely redesigned and constructed and features an in-ground concrete format with a bowl design, opened for use at the end of 2023.
