Welcome Wildlife this Winter

Although some species of animals fly south for the winter, and others like to sleep through the winter, many stick around and brave the cold weather.

To survive, they need enough space, or habitat, to find food, water and shelter.

You can help local wildlife this winter by providing suitable habitat right in your yard!

Will County Forest Preserve District has written a great article on how to prepare your property.

Check out their advice in Follow These Tips to Winterize Your Yard for Wildlife.

An added benefit of creating wildlife habitat is the chance to observe our local animals, especially birds.

Here are some bird feeders you can make at home using recycled items.

With just a little prep, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of wildlife this winter while staying warm and cozy inside!
