Woodcock Walk

Join a naturalist to learn about the elusive American Woodcock!

This short-legged, plump bird uses its long bill to probe for earthworms and other invertebrates, spending time during the day in the woodlands and coming out into the open in the evening. Their courtship unique display includes a nasal beeping call on the ground combined with a spiral aerial display.

• After a brief presentation, go on a hike to look and listen for "dancing" male woodcocks.
• Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather
• Program may be held completely outdoors.
• Program is free but registration is required.
