Food Scraps & Yard Waste Composting

When: Year- round; weekly
Who: Naperville Residents; for other cities search online for "Curbside Organics Recycling"
What: Yard Waste Carts/Organics Recycling - Standard yard waste and compostable food scraps such as fruits, vegetables, pastas, breads, crackers, and cereals. Meat products and/or bones are not accepted at this time.
Where: Curbside pick up with a designated cart

Holiday Lights Recycling

What: Mini-lights (Italian lights), C7, C9, rope, LED; all colors and lengths as well as extension cords

What:       "In support of the “America the Beautiful” initiative, the Illinois 30×30 Coalition has been established to advocate for state                         policy to align with this goal and to create an equitable, biodiverse, and climate-resilient Illinois for everyone."
How:        This initiative was started by high school students in Pontiac, IL. They wrote the legislation which was approved by lawmakers                         and signed into law in 2021.

Textile/Clothing Reuse & Recycling

When: Year Round
Where: Donate to your local resale shops; Blue Jeans Go Green locations or by mail; Find a USAgain drop box location near you
What: For USAgain: Acceptable: clothes, shoes and household textiles regardless of condition. Household textiles include tablecloths, towels, beddings, blankets, bedspreads, etc. Clothes, shoes and textiles must be clean and dry and dropped off in tied plastic bags. A sturdy plastic bag protects the clothes from dirt and simplifies handling. Not Acceptable: mattresses, furniture, appliances, carpet, household items, toys or trash.
