The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has implemented a Restricted Boating Area on the East and West Branches of the DuPage River effective 8:00 p.m. on July 4, 2026. Recent heavy rainfall has resulted in high water levels, swift currents, floating debris and submerged hazards, creating dangerous conditions for boaters and emergency responders.

The restriction will remain in effect until conditions improve and the river is deemed safe for navigation. Residents are urged to avoid recreational boating on the river and exercise caution near all waterways.
